In today’s post I want to give my opinion about the famous PBN (Private Blog Networks) or so called ” Networks of expired domains “.
The truth is that there has been a stir during the last month on this type of SEO practices, and there are many opinions, both for and against. In both cases, often very radical and opposing views:
I’ll start by explaining what a blog network of expired domains if you are not already aware:
A network of blogs of expired domains (or expired) is to buy a number of domains existed, and that for one reason or another, their owners have not renewed. At that point, that domain becomes free for anyone who wants to buy it. Now, the big advantage you have is that this domain may already have a good quantity and quality of backlinks. As already accumulated a certain strength and you can harness that power to your projects through outgoing links to your main project.
For example, suppose you find a domain that has inbound links from Wikipedia, 3 major newspapers and link the education ministry. This domain may hit a fairly significant boost to your project as you use the existing force to channel it to your project through a link keyword or keyword phrase that serves from an article that you post there.
If to this you add another 10 links from other 10 domains expired, converted to blogs, you can reach first page of Google “no problem” (in combination with other things, of course ..). But this force and no one takes you.
use expired domains to rank web pages
What are the common mistakes that people make when creating a PBN?
Here is the “kit” of the cultural issue.
It’s funny how people complain that this type of technique has stopped working, for the simple fact that they have gone to shit a network mounted wrong. For example, some of the common mistakes that people make (worst) tend to be these:
- Record all your network domains under one name, email and address.
- Some recorded under different names, but they put their entire network the same account Webmaster Tools
- The most greedy will even put adsense to all your projects expired, under the same Adsense account, of course ..
- Use services of SEO Hosting to host their pages.
Some of these errors were not as easy to foresee, such as using SEO hosting. But then, on second thought, do not think Google is going to get their hands first to sites that are created to accommodate pages designed to fool their algorithm ?? The problem is that if you have a totally legitimate site accommodation “SEO hosting” the simple act of sharing IP with garbage sites, and penalizes you.
Then there are things that not many people have in mind when setting up their networks and, today, are absolutely necessary to guarantee a long life thereof.
Let’s review some of them:
Host domains on different IP hostings
This is something basic and I guess that does not need much explanation.
But in short, do not use the same server to host your projects. If you use the same hosting provider, ask them to those staying at least on servers in different C Class . If it can be totally different IPs, the better. The point is to have Ips that can not be related to each other.
Try your blogs blogs really seem obsolete
For example, if you find a blog that was expired before a theme of “travel” writes all stories on this subject. This does not mean you will not help if your niche is about “dogs” for example. You’d just write a post that “The best ways to travel with a dog” is called … and then link your page dogs from that post.
Also, do not do all the same length posts. A blog to support 5 posts of 300 words each, sings a lot.
Write posts of different sizes. Some exceeding 1000 words if it can be. Do not remove links provided all posts, and especially not always linked to your own project from those items.
Indeed, I would recommend you also take out links to authority sites in your industry (search Google News for example, and link a recent newspaper article has talked about “dogs”). So Google sees that bind know well and share information relevant sites and authoritative.
Another important thing is that occasionally serves a post without any outgoing link, or even a post that has only images for example.
More decisive factors: Insert videos.
Search videos related to the title of your post on YouTube and insert in your article. Remember Youtube.com belongs to Google, and they love their projects are mentioned ..;)
Concerning the content, (and) never you use duplicate content or texts spineado for your support. If you do not have an editor, you can get discounts texts textbroker.es for example.
Or you can always use this controversial trick that I published in January 2012 .;)
Hide your blog networks in the eyes of your competitors
There is an “unwritten law” in this of expired domains, is that you should never teach anyone your network. And never your blogs expired links between them.
To hide them before your competitors, there are very simple formulas like using plugins that block bots SEO analysis tools (Ahrefs, OSE, Semrush, Etc ..). One is Spider Spanker about which I spoke quite some time, and another, better yet (because it is free) is Link Privacy . What they do is that they block the access of bots to your blog networks so that outgoing links from there, can not be seen from SEO analysis tools.
So if suddenly you get to No. 1 in Google on a keyword, your competitors will become crazy to know how the hell you did. Since its tools will not show any of the links in your blog network.
So if … if not stuck, and these links out, you might sneak a competitor withdraws you to Google. And if a manual reviewer goes through your blog support and that smell in some way to “SEO”, you will be penalized. Therefore it is very important support blogs seem natural and real.
Other factors to your network of blogs seem real in the eyes of Google
Especially since he left the Panda 4.1, there are some factors that you should consider for your network expired:
Create social networks for each of your blogs support . An account on twitter, G +, Youtube and Facebook are necessary to give some credibility to the project. If you ride this, at least you give a signal to Google that is a blog that is serious. Blogs traditional support lifelong (those who have been penalized in many cases).
Rename it to “admin” the author of your posts . If you invent a name like “Varun Reddy” as the author of the blog, that you are creating social profiles, have the same personal name. So everything fits and looks real.
Create a page of “About Us”, “contact” and “Privacy Policy” . In the section “who we are” re-name the author (Varun Reddy in this case). The page “Privacy Policy” is usually a copy / paste from another site. Nothing happens. We usually make 99% of the pages are in internet …;)
Change the email to all your emails arriving section “contact” . If you do all of the above, but in all blogs have the same support he receives email to emails from the contact section, you are leaving footprints .. It is best if your blog is called www.asdfgh.com, the email is info@asdfg.com and then redirect to your email lifetime. So you avoid a possible problem.
Use Gravatar.com to assign a pic to your fake email info@asdfg.com . Another factor to this blog look “serious”.
If you have networks already a bit bigger expired domains, do not install the same CMS in all of them. Most will be in wordpress. It is normal. But I varíalo a little installing a Drupal or even the new CMS that I love it Ghost.org .
How to find this type of expired domains?
Five years ago, there were real gem of a expired domains. Domains Pagerank 7 with thousands of inbound links from ministries, newspapers, universities, etc.etc.
Today things are much more complicated.
With tools like Xenu, Screaming Frog or Ahrefs you can make very effective searches, but it takes a long time to get to find something that really worth it.
There are very good as scanning tricks lists to find expired. There are other tricks to scan certain lists that currently can not share here …. but all have a common problem:
They are a pain and it takes a long time.
For this reason, one day we got down to work and created a proprietary tool that scans several thousand domains and when you find a lot of expired . Right now, we find, automated, some 40 quality domains daily. These domains go through all filters, before giving the nod as “suitable”.
Eye. Not all expired you meet are usually quality . Moreover, all these lists podais see out there of thousands of domains expired they give you free, they are mostly a shit.
And I explain why ..
Imagine that you are going to scan a website
At first glance, it seems a little gem.
DA and PA domain expired
ahrefs rank 41 of expired domain
With powerful inbound links such as the University of Education and the Government websites :
inbound links to university and government websites
Even the profile anchors (keyword that link) seems most natural and … .perfect!
anchors that link
Come on … anyone who knows a little of this and encounter a domain so, begin to drool.
But this domain is shit.
Why?
Because it has one thing that most people do not look.
On the domain.
Look. If now you will look like Archive.org and this domain was a few years ago … you know some SEO has used and spammed to death. Chances are that left you to die because Google deindexed
We are interested in a domain like this ?? Not at all. We must avoid at all costs.
Another example of another site :
It has fantastic metrics. A PA 43 and 31. DA lot of quality inbound links. Even at Archive.org looks clean.
Why we are not interested?
For inbound links:
spam links
Not that they are of Viagra … but come on. Very much.
We are not interested mastery of this style.
Therefore, it is very important that the expired domains that go to catch, are of quality. Although they have a metric somewhat lower, but they are at least clean.
What are the important metrics that must be taken into account when analyzing an expired domain?
I usually use a combination of these four metrics:
- Ahrefs Score – Looking for domains that have a Ahrefs above 40. score Moreover, since the same tool, I notice your inbound links (other quality domains) and the anchor texts with the link (the ideal is that the Most links are brand).
- DA and PA MOZ – If you you download the Toolbar SEO MOZ , you’ll quickly see which is the metric of any domain. Here I notice that the DA is greater than 20. There are cases where under lower DAs, but depends on the type of incoming links you have the expired domain. If you have large lists and want to watch them all “bulk”, you can do with tools like this .
- Archive.org – I always look past the expired domain. If at any time you have had a history of “spam”, I rule. Sometimes you even have to look very closely because there are people who buy an expired domain, restored as it was, with services like Wayback Downloader and then have something more difficult to detect (Not who owns this web, and if yours and you would remove the example, let me know by mail and take it off no problem, ok?).
- MajesticSEO – The Trust Flow (TF) and the Citation Flow (CF) of MajesticSEO usually something that I also look. But unless other factors. Here I look at it high. From 15 to 20 in each of the two metrics, I begin like.
Additional tools maybe can serve
The truth is that there are a lot of tools that will help in creating this type of blogs.
Apart from that I mentioned above, the tools that emphasize are:
- Pingdom – If you have networks of many blogs, it is best to use a tool like this, to alert you every time one of your websites is down.
- Massive search domain availability – MrDomain has a fantastic tool for finding massively if domain lists that you find, are available for recording or not. You also have the version of Godaddy, but that’s another story I’ll tell you another day. I have done the odd dirty trick that has not liked anything …
- IntoDNS.com – run your network by this tool and check that the SOA Record is not the same in all of them. It’s a pretty dodgy track that often leave many people and that Google finds you soon.
- Fakenamegenerator.com – If neceistas create fake names (address, email, phone, etc ..) to record all your domains expired, you can use this service. It is important that if you make up an address to sign up, which at least is a real address because google can detect through Google maps whether or not there ..
- Clicky.com – A good alternative to Webmaster Tools. It is an analytics program (free to a point) that lets you watch your web traffic. Yes … if you can, Register your domain Webmaster tools (a different one for each domain). You can use proxies for it if you want.
- Index Checker – To see if any of your pages support has been penalized and is loaded with Google’s index.
- 404 redirection plugin – One of the many plugins that allows you to redirect all pages den 404, to homepage of your website. This is important because often you buy expired, have external links to internal pages. These internal pages no longer exist because you have installed a blog from scratch and certainly has not respected the old urls that had the domain before expiring. Well to keep the incoming force, it is best to redirect that linkjuice cover.
- Infinite WP – Allows you to post on all blogs in your network from a single admin panel. It saves a lot of time, and also leaves no trace at Google ..
Conclusion :
Today, not only for me, but many of the best SEOs at international and national level continue busting the SERPS with their projects, thanks in large part to the pbNs. No need to go out of our country to hear opinions on this subject, I’m sure if you ask yourselves the good in this , I am sure you can tell some interesting stories about the subject
You have to understand that Google knows not think. But he knows math and knows the dots. If you see things that do not fit you, you can raise red flags of their bots. And as through a manual reviewer for your website, you can be screwed.
On the other hand, it is impossible to get caught if you do it right.
What will they do? Prohibit the sale of expired domains? They can not. Is impossible. Many people purchase a domain name that you like the sound, not knowing what was formerly the domain of another person and made him linkbuilding (good or bad ..).
It’s simple. The pbNs are an investment . If you do it right, your project will go up through the roof. And that means more visitors, more sales and more than whatever your goal for that web.
Write an amazing content and wait for it to become viral. And while that will put many links from thousands of sites. Because you’re worth.
